The Words of Jesus - 1923
(From the Foreword) - No originality is claimed for the translation. It is, in fact, a cento. The phrase of the title-page of the King James version described what has been done: "with former translations diligently compared and revised." The effort has been to take the best of all, but where none has been satisfactory the editor has not hesitated to make his own attempt at betterment.
The Greek text chosen as the basis of this version is that of Weymouth's "Resultant Greek Testament"; but occasionally the editor has ventured to adopt what seemed to him a better reading.
