Dr. Jeffrey Seif, Project Manager / Vice President, University Distinguished Professor of Bible and Jewish Studies at The King´s University, introduced this TLV on two pages. As to the translation, we read:
»The scholars who worked on this translation believed that the current English–speaking Bible readers needed a rendering that spoke with a more decidedly Jewish–friendly voice – like the Bible authors themselves. (…) Rabbi Jeff Adler (…) managed the production of the Toras/ Pentateuch, Rabbi Barney Kesdan (…) managed the production of the Neviim/ Prophets, Dr. Vered Hillel superintended the Ketuvim/ Writings.«
In the TLV guidelines it is mentioned that the verse numbering is the same used in the standard 1917 Jewish Publication Society text. – The TLV TANAKH (OT) books are in the Jewish order. In the New Covenant those verses that the Byzantine text family adds (T. R. et altera) are placed in the footnotes.
The translation of the Psalms, which, as stated in the introduction to the 2012 TLV Psalms book, were built aptop the 1917 Jewish Publication Society version of the Hebrew Bible, have been revised for this complete edition. This also applies, at several passages, for the text of the New Covenant.
