Genesis 12:1-5

1Now the Lord said to Abram, Depart from thy land and from thy kindred and from the house of thy father and come to the land which I will shew thee, 2and I will make thee a great nation ; and I will bless thee and make thy name great, and thou shalt be blessed; 3and I will bless them, who bless thee; and those who curse thee I will curse : and by thee all the tribes of the earth shall be blessed. 4So Abram went as the Lord commanded him, and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy five yeais old when he came out of Charran. 5And Abram took Sara his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance which they possessed, and every living creature which they had, and set out from Charran to go to the land of Chanaan.

Psalm 23

1The Lord is my shepherd, I shall want nothing. 2In a verdant pasture he hath fixed my abode. He hath fed me by gently flowing water 3and restored my soul. He hath led me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4For though I walk amidst the shades of death : I will fear no ills, because thou art with me ; thy rod and thy staff' have been my comfort. 5Thou hast spread a table before me; in the presence of them who afflict me. With oil thou hast anointed my head; and thine exhilarating cup is the very best. 6Thy mercy will surely follow me all the days of my life; and my dwelling shall be in the house of the Lord to length of days.

Isaiah 55:1-3

1Ho! ye who are thirsting, come to water! and ye who have no money, come buy and eat, without money and without price, wine and the choicest bread. 2Why are you expending money and labour for that which will not satisfy? Hearken to me and you shall eat good things; and your soul will be regaled with delicacies. 3Incline your ears and follow in my paths ; hearken to me and your soul shall live on good things ; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant— the gracious promises to David which are faithful.

Mark 1:9-13

9And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized in the Jordan, by John, 10who immediately upon his coming up from the water, saw the heavens parted asunder, and the Spirit like a dove decending upon him. 11And there came a voice from the heavens, " Thou art my Son, the Beloved, in whom I am well pleased."
12Presently after this the Spirit sendeth him forth into the wilderness, 13and he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to him.

John 1:1-5

1808 Bible

1In the beginning was the Word; and the Word was with God; 2and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. 3By him all things were made, and without him there was not made one single thing. 4What was in him was life, and this life was the light of men, 5and this light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness did not reach it.

1815 Synopsis of the Four Evangelists

1In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, 2and the WORD was God. This [Word] was in the beginning with God: 3all things were made by it; and without it there was not made one single thing. 4That which was in it was Life; and this Life was the Light of men ;5 and this Light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness doth not reach it.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

1I now, brethren, remind you in what terms I proclaimed the gospel which I proclaimed to you, and which you received, and in which you have continued, 2and by which also you are saved, if you strictly adhere to it, unless indeed you believed in vain. 3For I delivered to you, as one of the principal things, that which I actually received, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures; 4and that he was buried; and that he was raised up the third day according to the scriptures; 5and that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve; 6after that he was seen by above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater number are even now alive, but some indeed are composed to rest; 7after that he was seen by James, then by all the apostles; 8and, last of all, he was seen also by me, who am as it were one born out of due time;
