Mark 1:9-13
9And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in Jordan: 10and straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit descending upon him as a dove ; 11and there came a voice from heaven, saying, "THOU ART MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED."
12And immediately the spirit sendeth him forth into the desert: 13and he was in the desert forty days, tempted by Satan; and was among the wild beasts; and angels ministered unto him.
John 1:1-5
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God: 2the same was in the beginning with God: 3All things were made by it; and without it was not any thing made that was made: 4in it was life; and the life was the light of men: 5and the light' shineth in darkness; and the darkness admitted it not.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you; which also ye have received, and in which ye stand; 2by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory in what manner I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3For I delivered unto you first of all, that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4and that he was buried, and that on the third day he rose again according to the scriptures: 5and that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve: 6after that, he was seen by above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present time, though some have fallen asleep. 7After that, he was seen by James; then by all the apostles: 8and last of all, he was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.
