Matthews Version 6: 9-13 (1962 revised ed.)
9 'Pray in this way, "Our Heavenly Father, may thy name be sanctified,
10 thy Kingdom esthablished, thy will be obeyed on earth as it is in heaven.
11/12 Give us to-day our needful food, and forgive us our failings, as we too forgive those who failed us.
13 And do not put temptation in our way, but shield us from harm.
_
1 Or, 'Rescue us from the Evil One'.
To Jewish Believers (Hebrews) 1:1-4 (1962 revised ed.)
1AT varying intervals and in varied fashions God spoke of old to our fathers by the Prophets;
but at the close of these times he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir to everything.
2 By him also he instituted the Aeons.
3 He, being the reflection of God's glory and the exact expression of his nature,
bringing everything into being by the exercise of God's power, when he had effected an expiation of sins,
sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in the havenly heights.
4 In this respect he is superior to the angels, in so far as he has obtained a more exalted status than theirs.
5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,
'You are my son, to-day I have begotten you', or again, 'I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me'.
6 Or, again, when he introduced the Firstborn to his world estate he says, 'And let all God's angles pay him homage'.
John's version. PROLOGUE 1:1-4 (1962 revised ed.)
1 In the beginning was the Word.
And the Word was with God.
So the Word was divine.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 By him everything had being.
And without him nothing has being.
4 When he had being by him was Life.
And Life was the Light of men.
5 And the Light shines in the Darkness.
And the darkness could not suppress it.
