International English Bible - 2014

God Calls Abraham

1Then the Always-Present One said to Abram, “Leave your land, your relatives, and your father’s home, and go to a country which I am about to show you. 2I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make your name famous, and you will be a blessing. 3I will bless those who bless you, but I will condemn those who despise you. And, through you, all the nations on earth will be blessed. 4So, Abram left, just as the Always-Present One had told him to do. Lot went with him, too. When Abram left the town of Haran, he was 75 years old. 5Abram took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions which they had gained, and the slaves whom they had acquired in Haran. They all left, heading for the land of Canaan. When they arrived there,

Psalm 23

The Lord Is My Shepherd

1A psalm of David.
Yahweh is my Shepherd. I have everything I need.
2He gives me rest in green pastures. He leads me beside calm waters. 3He gives me new strength. For the sake of His Name, He guides me in paths that are right. 4Even if I walk through a very dark valley, I will not be afraid of anything bad, because You are with me. Your rod and Your walking-stick comfort me.
5You prepare a banquet for me in front of my enemies. You pour oil on my head. You bless me abundantly. 6Surely Your goodness and love will be with me all of my life. And, I will dwell in the House of Yahweh forever!

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

Simple English Bible - 1981

1Brothers, I am telling you the Good News which I've already told you. You accepted it and you are still staying with it. 2If you hold onto the Good News which I told you, then, through it, you are being saved — unless you believed it for nothing! 3First of all, I passed on to you the same thing which was passed on to me: Christ died for our sins. (The Scriptures told about this before it happened.) 4He was buried and he was raised from death on the third day. (The Scriptures foretold this, too.) 5Then Jesus appeared to Peter, and later to all the apostles. 6Then he appeared to more than 500 brothers at the same time. Most of these people are still alive today, but some of them have already died. 7Christ appeared to James, and then to all the apostles. 8Last of all, he also appeared to me. I was like a baby born very late.
