Isaiah 2:4
And he will judge between the nations, And make decision between the peoples. Then they shall hammer their swords into ploughshares, And their spears into pruning-hooks. Nation shall lift no sword against nation, And never again will they lean to make war.
Isaiah 7:14
Because you will not ask, the Lord himself will give you a Sign. See, a maiden shall conceive and give birth to a son, and shall call him Immanuel, which means, God is with us.
Micah 6:8
You know well enough, Man, what is good! For what does the Lord require from you, But to be just, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

The arrival of Jesus
9It was in those days that Jesus arrived from the Galilean village of Nazareth and was baptised by John in the Jordan. 10All at once, as he came up out of the water, he saw the heavens split open, and the Spirit coming down upon him like a dove. 11A voice came out of Heaven, saying,
"You are my dearly-beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!"
12,13Then the Spirit sent him out at once into the desert, and there he remained for forty days while Satan tempted him. During this time no one was with him but wild animals, and only the angels were there to care for him.

Prologue
1AT the beginning God expressed himself. 2That personal expression, that word, was with God, and was God, and he existed with God from the beginning. 3All creation took place through him, and none took place without him. 4In him appeared life and this life was the light of mankind. 5The light still shines in the darkness and the darkness has never put it out.

A reminder of the gospel message: the resurrection is
an integral part of our faith
1 Now, my brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel which I have previously preached to you, which you accepted, on which you have taken your stand 2and by which, if you remain faithful to the message I gave you, your salvation is being worked out— unless, of course, your faith had no meaning behind it at all.
3For I passed on to you,—as essential, the message I had myself received—that Christ died for our sins, as the scriptures said he would; 4that he was buried and rose again on the third day, again as the scriptures foretold. 5He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve, 6and subsequently he was seen simultaneously by over five hundred Christians, of whom the majority are still alive, though some have since died. 7He was then seen by James, then by all the messengers. 8And last of all, as to one born abnormally late, he appeared even to me!
