Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

1The Lord is my shepherd: I am never in need.
2He lays me down in green pastures.
He gently leads me to waters of rest,
3he refreshes my life.
He guides me along paths that are straight,
true to his name.

4And when my way lies through a valley of gloom,
I fear no evil, for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff comfort me.

5You spread a table for me
in face of my foes;
with oil you anoint my head,
and my cup runs over.
6Surely goodness and love will pursue me —
all the days of my life.
In the house of the Lord I will live
through the length of the days.

Mark 1:9-13

2010 preview

9Now about that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptised by John in the Jordan. 10Just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens rent apart, and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him, 11and from the heavens came a voice— “You are my Son, the Beloved; in you I delight.” 12Immediately afterwards the Spirit drove Jesus out into the Wilderness; 13and he was there in the Wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts, while the angels ministered to him.

John 1:1-5

1In the beginning the Word was;
and the Word was with God;
and the Word was God.
2He was in the beginning with God;
3through him all things came into being,
and nothing came into being apart from him.
4That which came into being in him was life;
and the life was the light of humanity;
5and the light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness never overpowered it.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

1Next, friends, I would like to remind you of the good news which I told you, and which you received — the good news on which you have taken your stand, 2and by means of which you are being saved. I would like to remind you of the words that I used in telling it to you, since you are still holding fast to it, and since it was not in vain that you became believers in Christ. 3For at the very beginning of my teaching I gave you the account which I had myself received — that Christ died for our sins (as the scriptures had foretold), 4that he was buried, that on the third day he was raised (as the scriptures had foretold), 5and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. 6After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have gone to their rest. 7After that, he appeared to James, and then to all the apostles. 8Last of all, he appeared even to me, who am, as it were, the abortion.
