There are significant differences between the First Edition and the Second Edition.

Genesis 12:1-5

First Edition
¹Then the Lord told Abram, “Leave your country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. ²I will cause you to become the father of a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and I will make you a blessing to others. ³I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.”
⁴So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. ⁵He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all his wealth—his livestock and all the people who had joined his household at Haran—and finally arrived in Canaan.

Second Edition
¹The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. ²I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. ³I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
⁴So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. ⁵He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all his wealth—his livestock and all the people he had taken into his household at Haran—and headed for the land of Canaan.

Psalm 23

First Edition
¹The Lord is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.
²He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
³He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
⁴Even when I walk
through the dark valley of death,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
⁵You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
you welcome me as a guest,
anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
⁶Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
forever.

Come and drink—

Listen, and I will tell you where to get food that is good for the soul!
³“Come to me with your ears wide open.
Listen, for the life of your soul is at stake.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you.
I will give you all the mercies and unfailing love that I promised to David.

¹⁵ May God grant me the ability to speak wisely
and to think thoughts worthy of all I have learned.
He is the guide of wisdom and the director of the wise.

Mark 1:9-13

⁹One day Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and he was baptized by John in the Jordan River. ¹⁰And when jesus came up out of the water, he saw the heavens split open and the Holy Spirit descending like a dove on him. ¹¹And a voice came from heaven saying, “You are my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with you.”
¹²Immediately the Spirit compelled Jesus to go into the wilderness. ¹³He was there for forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was out among the wild animals, and angels took care of him.

Second Edition

Nothing exists that he didn't make.
⁴Life itself was in him,
and this life gives light to everyone.
⁵The light shines through the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Second Edition
¹In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
²He existed in the beginning with God.
³God created everything through him,
and nothing was created except through him.
⁴The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and his life brought light to everyone.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

You welcomed it then and still do now, for your faith is built on this wonderful message. ²And it is this Good News that saves you if you firmly believe it—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.
³I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me—that Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. ⁴He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, as the Scriptures said. ⁵He was seen by Peter and then by the twelve apostles. ⁶After that, he was seen by more than five hundred of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died by now. ⁷Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. ⁸Last of all, I saw him, too, long after the others, as though I had been born at the wrong time.

¹Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before.
