Mark 1:9-13
9And it occurred, in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized in Jordan by John. 10And immediately on his coming from the water, he saw the heavens cleft, and the Spirit descending like a dove upon him. 11And there was a voice from the heavens: Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I delight. 12And directly the Spirit carried him into the wilderness: 13and he was there in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild beasts; and angels ministered to him.
John 1:1-5
1In the beginning, was the Word; and the Word was with God; and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3Every thing was by his hand; and without him, was not any thing whatever that existed. 4In him was life ; and the life was the light of man. 5And this light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
1And I make known to you, my brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, and which ye received, and in which ye stand, 2and by which ye have life. In what terms I preached to you, ye remember; unless ye have believed in vain. 3For I delivered to you from the first, as I had received it; that the Messiah died on account of our sins, as it is written: 4and that he was buried and arose on the third day, as it is written: 5and that he was seen by Cephas; and after him, by the twelve: 6and after that, he was seen by more than five hundred brethren at once; many of whom survive at the present time, and some of them sleep. 7And subsequently to this, he was seen by James; and after him, by all the legates. 8And last of them all, he was seen by me, as it were by an abortion.
