Genesis 12:1-5
1Yahweh has said to Abram,
Go from your land and your kindred and your father's house to a land which I will show you. 2I will make of you a great nation, and I willl bless you and magnify your name. You will be a blessing, 3and I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you. Through you all the nations of the earth will be blessed.
4Abram went away as Yahweh had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. Abram, when he left Haran, was 75 years old. 5He took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his brother's son, and all their possessions and the slaves they had bought in Haran. They went towards the land of Canaan, and arrived there.
Psalm 23
1Yahweh is my shepherd: I lack nothing. 2He sees to it that I lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters. 3He keeps on refreshing me. He guides me in right paths for his name's sake.
4Though I walk in the valley of death's shadow I fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff- they comfort me. 5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup overflows!
6Surely goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of Yahweh forever.
Mark 1:9-13
9In those days Jesus went from Nazareth of Galilee, and was immersed by John in the Jordan. 2Immediately he came up out of the water, and he saw the heavens being opened, and the Spirit as a dove coming down on him. 11A voice came from heaven, "You are my beloved Son. I am well pleased with you."
12Right away the Spirit led him into the wilderness, 13where for forty days he was tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, but the angels were serving him.
John 1:1-5
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things were created by him, and without him nothing was created. 4Life was in him, and the Life was the Light of men. 5The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not put it out.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
1Brothers, I make known to you the gospel which I proclaimed to you, which you accepted, in which you stand, 2and through which you are saved, if you hold fast the certain message which I proclaimed to you, unless you have believed in vain.
3I delivered to you, first of all, what I had also received: that according to the Scriptures, Christ died for our sins, 4that according to the Scriptures, he was buried an d raised the third day; 5and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the eleven.
6Afterwards he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom remain until now, though some have fallen asleep. 7Next he appeared to James, then to all the apostles; 8and, last of all, he appeared to me, as to one untimely born.
