9In those days it happened: Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10And suddenly, as he stepped up out of the water, he saw how the heavens were torn open and the Spirit in the form of a dove descended upon him. 11And a voice sounded from the heavens: 'You are my beloved Son, in you I am revealed.'
12And suddenly he felt himself driven by the Spirit into the desert, 13and he remained in the lonliness of the desert for forty days, tempted by the Adversary. And he was among wild animals, and the angels served him.
1In the very beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was a divine Being.
2He was in the very beginning with God.
3All things came into being through him,
and nothing of all that has come into being was made except through him.
4In him was life,
and the life was the light of human beings.
5And the light shines in the darkness;
and the darkness has not accepted it.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
1Dear brothers, I would imprint deeply on your understanding consciousness the Gospel which I proclaimed to you, which you have made the content of your soul, which gives your being firmness 2and which fills you with healing power. Bring to remembrance the words with which I proclaimed it to you. For certainly you have kept them, unless it should be that your faith has lost its power.
3First of all I brought you the message as I received it myself: that Christ, in accordance with ancient scriptures, suffered death for our sickness of sin, 4that he was laid in the grave and rose again on the third day, as the old scriptures already have said.
5Then he appeared to Cephas, thereafter to the twelve; 6then more than five hundred brothers saw him at the same time, of whom most are still living; others, however, have already died. 7Thereafter, he appeared to James and then to all the apostles. 8Last of all he appeared to me also, who am one born prematurely.
