Genesis 12:1-5
First Printing - July 1971
1 AFTER THE DEATH of Abram's father, God told him, “Leave your own country behind you, and your own people, and go to the land I will guide you to. 2 If you do, I will cause you to become the father of a great nation; I will bless you and make your name famous, and you will be a blessing to many others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you; and the entire world will be blessed because of you.”
4 So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed him, and Lot went too; Abram was seventy-five years old at that time. 5 He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all his wealth—the cattle and slaves he had gotten in Haran—and finally arrived in Canaan.

1 BECAUSE THE LORD is my Shepherd, I have everything I need!
2,3 He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He restores my failing health. He helps me do what honors him the most.
4 Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way.
5 You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies. You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings overflow!
6 Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with you forever in your home.

Isaiah 55:1-3

1 SAY THERE! Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink—even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine and milk—it’s all free! 2 Why spend your money on foodstuffs that don't give you strength? Why pay for groceries that don't do you any good? Listen and I’ll tell you where to get good food that fattens up the soul!
3 Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, for the life of your soul is at stake. I am ready to make an everlasting covenant with you, to give you all the unfailing mercies and love that I had for King David.

The main differences between the 1967 New Testament and the first edition of the complete Living Bible published in 1971 are the formatting - the 1967 New Testament prints every verse as a new paragraph while the 1971 Bible arranges the verses into sense paragraphs. And, the capitalization of pronouns that refer to Christ. The 1967 New Testament usually capitalizes such pronouns (however see 1 Corinthians 15:6 below) while the 1971 Bible does not.
New Testament - 1967
9 Then one day Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John there in the Jordan River.
10 The moment Jesus came up out of the water, He saw the heavens open and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove descending on Him,
11 And a voice from heaven said, “You are my beloved Son; You are my Delight.”
12-13 Immediately the Holy Spirit urged Jesus into the desert. There, for 40 days, alone except for desert animals, He was subjected to Satan’s temptations to sin. And afterwards the angels came and cared for Him.

John 1:1-5
New Testament - 1967
1-2 Before anything else existed, there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is Himself God.
3 He created everything there is—nothing exists that he didn't make.
4 Eternal life is in Him, and this life gives light to all mankind.
5 His life is the light that shines through the darkness—and the darkness can never extinguish it.

1 Now let me remind you, brothers, of what the Gospel really is, for it has not changed—it is the same Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then and still do now, for your faith is squarely built upon this wonderful message;
2 and it is this Good News that saves you if you still firmly believe it, unless of course you never really believed it in the first place.
3 I passed on to you right from the first what had been told to me, that Christ died for our sins just as the Scriptures said He would,
4 and that He was buried, and that three days afterwards He arose from the grave just as the prophets foretold.
5 He was seen by Peter and later by the rest of “The Twelve.”
6 After that he(sic) was seen by more than five hundred Christian brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died by now.
7 Then James saw Him, and later all the apostles.
8 Last of all I saw Him too, long after the others, as though I had been born almost too late for this.
