9And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was immersed by John into the Jordan. 10And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit as a dove descending upon him; 11and there came a voice from heaven, saying: Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.
12And immediately the Spirit impelled him to go into the wilderness. 13And he was in the wilderness forty days tempted by the Adversary; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Jehovah, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with Jehovah. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not even one things made that hath been made. 4In him is life, and the life was the light of men. 5And the light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness overcame it not.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
1Now I declare to you, brethren, the same gospel which I preached to you, which also ye received, in which also ye stand 2and through which ye are being preserved safe and unharmed, if ye hold fast the word which I preached to you; unless ye believed triflingly.
3For I delivered to you in the first place that which also I received, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4and that he was buried; and that he was raised the third day according to the scriptures; ^5^and that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve; 6afterwards he was seen by more than five hundred brethren, of whom the greater number remain until now; but some are fallen asleep. 7After that, he was seen by James; then by all the apostles; 8and last of all he was seen by me also, as by a child untimely born.
