Mark 1:9-13
The Last Days Bible - 1999
The Baptism of Jesus
9 After John had been preaching for some time, Jesus came down from the town of Nazareth in the province of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan River.
10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, John saw the heavens torn open and the Holy Spirit coming down like a dove and coming to rest upon Jesus!
11 Then a voice came out of the heavens, saying, "You are My Son whom I love so dearly. I have found such great delight in You."
12 Immediately after that, the Holy Spirit compelled Jesus to go into the wilderness.
13And He was out in the wilderness with the wild animals for 40 days, being constantly tempted by Satan to sin. Afterward the angels came and waited on Him.
John 1:1-5
American Common Speech Translation - 1953, 1961?
The Word was in existence when time began. [Word is one of the names of Jesus Christ. He is God's word, or God's message to man. God revealed Himself, and expressed Himself to mankind through Christ.] The Word was with God. And the Word also was God. He was together with God in the beginning, and it was through him that all things came into existence. Of all that has been created not a single thing came into existence apart from him.
In him was Life. And that Life was the Light of mankind. 5 This Light still is shining in the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered it.

When the Word Became Human
1The One called the Word existed before anything was made. He was with God, and He was also God.
2 Besides being with God in the very beginning, God made everything thru Him.
3 Of all that has been made, not a single thing was made without His being involved.
4 He also had power within Himself to give life to what He created. And when He gave life to mankind, all their senses came alive and they had light and understanding.
5 The Light is still shining in the darkness, but for the most part, those in spiritual darkness have not allowed the Light to illumine them and give them Life.

The Great News About Christ
1 Now I wish to remind you dear friends about the Great News that I preached to you, which you also received, and on which you now base all your hopes for time and eternity.
2 It's by means of this Great News that you are being saved, but only if you are continuing to hold firmly to the message I preached to you. Otherwise, all your previous following of the Lord has been of no value to you at all.
3 Because I gave you those truths which are of prime importance, which I had myself also received:
That the Messiah died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said He would;
4 that He was buried, but that three days later He was raised back to life again, just as the Scriptures had predicted;
5 and that He appeared to Peter, and then to the rest of the Twelve.
6 After that, He was seen by more than 500 of His followers at one time, most of whom are still alive today, although some have now died.
7 Later still, He was seen by James, and then again by all the apostles.
8 Last of all, He was also seen by me, by one who was caused to live in spite of the fact that I tried to commit spiritual abortion.
