Genesis 12:1-5
1NOW the LORD said to Abram, Depart from your country, and from the place of your nativity, and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you;
2And I will make of you a great people, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing;
3And I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you; and in you shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
4So Abram did as the LORD had spoken to him; and Lot went with him; and Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
5And Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother's son and all their possessions which they had gained and the persons that they had gotten in Haran, and they went on their way to the land of Canaan, and to the land of Canaan they came.
Psalm 23
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2He make me to rest in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters.
3He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6Surely thy goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Isaiah 55:1-3
1Ho, every one that thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2Wherefor do you spend money for that which is not bread? And your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and your soul shall be delighted in delicacies.
3Incline your year, and come to me; listen to me, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
Mark 1:9-13
9And it came to pass in those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized in the Jordan by John.
10And immediately, as he went up out of the water, he saw the sky was clear open, and the Spirit as a dove came down upon him.
11And a voice came from heaven, You are my beloved Son, I am pleased with you.
12And immediately the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness.
13And he was there in the wilderness forty days, being tried out by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to him.
John 1:1-5
1The Word was in the beginning, and that very Word was with God, and God was that Word.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
3Everything came to be by his hand; and without him not even one thing came to be of what was created.
4The life was in him, and the life is the light of men.
5And the same light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
1Moreover, my brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you and which you have accepted and for which you have stood firm:
2By which also you are saved if you keep in remembrance that very word which I have preached to you, and if your conversion has not been in vain.
3For I delivered to you first of all that which I had also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4And that he was buried, and that he rose again on the third day according to the scriptures;
5And that he appeared to Kepa,1 then to the twelve;
6After that, he appeared to more than five hundred brethren at once, of whom a great many are still living though some are dead.
7And after that, he appeared to James; then to all the apostles.
8and last of all he appeared to me also, ignorant and imperfectly trained2 as I was.
