(Vol 1) Genesis 12:1 - 5

1 And the Lord said to Abram, 'Go out of your land, and out of your kindred,
and your father's house, to the land which I shall show you.
2 And I shall make you into a great nation, and I shall bless you, and make your name great.
And you will be blessed.
3 And I shall bless those who bless you, and those who curse you I shall curse,
and in you shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed.'
4 So Abram journeyed, as the Lord had spoken to him. And Lot went with him. Abram was seventy- five years old when he went out of Haran.
5 And Abram took Sara his wife, and Lot the son of his brother, and all their possessions that they had acqiured,
and every soul which they had acquired in Haran.
And they went out to journey into the land of Canaan. And they came to the land of Canaan.

(Vol.2) Ruth 2:10-13

10 And she fell on her face, and prostrated herself to the ground, and said to him,
'Why have I found favour in your sight, that you should recognize me - and I am a foreign woman?'
11 And Boaz answered and said to her, 'It has has been fully reported to me
what great things you have done for your mother-in-law, after your husband died,
and how you left your father and mother and the land of your birth, and how you went to a people whom you did not know previously.
12 May the Lord repay your work; and may you have a full reward from the Lord, God of Israel,
to whom you have come, to place your trust under his wings.'
13 And she said, 'May I find favour in your sight, my lord, for you have comforted me
and because you have spoken to the heart of your servant; and look! I shall be as one of your slave-girls.'

(Vol.3) Psalms 23 (22 LXX)

A psalm of David

1 The Lord shepherds me; and there shall be nothing lacking for me.
2 Into a place of green grass, there he has pitched my tent;
on the water of repose he has fed me.
3 He has restored my soul;
he has guided me on paths of righteousness,
for the sake of his name.
4 For even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death,
I shall fear no evil, for you are with me;
your stick and your rod, these have comforted me.
5 You have prepared before me a table,
over against those who afflict me.
You have anointed my head with oil;
your cup is making me drunk, like the very best [wine].
6 Your mercy shall pursue me, all the days of my life;
and my dwelling [shall be] in the house of the Lord,
for length of days.

Wisdom of Jesus ben Sira 43

15 Now I shall call the Lord's works to mind;
I shall recount the things I have seen.
At the Lord's word his works [are done].
16 The sun gives light to everything it shines on;
and the glory of the Lord fills all that he does.
17 The Lord has not permitted his holy ones to recount all his wonders
which the Lord Almighty has established,
that the whole may stand firm in his glory.
18 He fathoms the depths and the heart;
he understands all their great deeds;
for the Most High knows all knowledge,
and he has looked into the sign of the time.
19 He declares the things that have passed, and the things that are yet to come,
and reveals the traces of hidden things.
20 Not a single thought escapes him;
there is no word that is hidden from him.
21 He has adorned the great deeds of his wisdom;
as he was before time was and will be up to the end of time,
neither added nor taken away, and he needs no adviser.

(Vol. 4) Isaiah 55:1-5

1 You who are thirsty, come to the water,
and you who have no money, come and buy,
And drink without money or the price of wine, and [eat] fat.
2 Why value it for money, and [give] your labour for no satisfaction?
Listen to me and you will eat good things; and your soul shall revel in good things.
3 Pay attention with your ears, and follow my ways;
listen to me and your soul shall live in good things.
And I'm going to make an eternal covenant with you,
the holy things of David, which you can rely on.
4 Look! I have made him a witness among the nations,
a prince and commander among the nations.
5 Nations who did not know you shall call upon you,
and peoples who do not understand you shall take refuge in you,
for the sake of your God, the Hoy One of Israel, for he has glorified you.

(Vol. 5) Mark 1:9-13

9-11 And it happened in those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptised in the Jordan by John.
And immediately coming up out of the water he saw the heavens dividing and the Spirit like a dove coming upon him.
And a voice came out of the heavens:
'You are my Son, the beloved; in you I have taken pleasure.'
12-13 And immediately the Spirit hurls him out into the desert.
And he was in the desert forty days being tested by the Satan, and he was with the beasts.
And the angels began to serve him.

John 1:1-5

1-5 In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
This [Word] was in the beginning with God.
Everything came to be through the [Word],
and apart from [the Word] nothing at all came to be.
What came to be in [the Word] was Life,
and the Life was the Light of human beings.
And the Light shines in Darkness,
and the Darkness did not master [the Light].

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

1-8 Fellow Christians, I am making known to you [again!] the gospel which I gospelled to you,
which you received, on which you stand secure, through which you are being saved,
the terms which I gospelled you, if you still hold it fast (unless, of course, you came thoughtlessly to faith).
So, in the first place [you will recall], I passed on to you, what I also received, that Christ
♦ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
♦ that he was buried;
♦ that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures;
♦ and that he appeared to Kephas, then to the Twelve.
Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at once, of whom the majority still remain [alive],
although some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, and then to all the apostles.
Last of all, as though to an abortion, he appeared also to me.
