Mark 1:9-13
Baptism of Jesus
Mark 1:9-11 (Matthew 3:13-17; Luke 3:21-23)
(9) Jesus walked from Nazareth in Galilee to Judea east of Jerusalem in the Jordan River valley and was baptized by John in the Jordan River. (10-11) When Jesus came up out of the water, John saw heaven open up, and the Holy Spirit came down on Jesus like a dove. A voice came from heaven and said, “You are my Son, whom I love. I am pleased with you.”
Satan Tests Jesus
Mark 1:12-13 (Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13)
(12-13) After the water baptism of Jesus, the Holy Spirit led him into the wilderness of Judea. He was tested by Satan for 40 days. He lived with wild animals around him. Angels came and helped him.
John 1:1-5
The Word Was God
John 1:1-5
(1) The Word was before creation, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) He was in the beginning with God. (3) God created every- thing through the Word. He did not create anything without the Word. (4) The life of God was in the Word, and the life of God was the light for all people. (5) The light of God shines in the darkness of this world, and the darkness of this world cannot put the light of God out.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
The Good News and the Appearances of Jesus
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
(1-2) I remind you of the good news that I made known to you when I visited you in Corinth. The good news you received makes your faith stand strong. From it, you are being saved. Keep holding strong to my message, or your faith will be meaningless. (3-4) I passed on to you, as of first importance, what I received: Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he was raised on the third day. This was told to us in the Bible. (5-8) After his resurrection Jesus appeared to Peter, to his 12 Apostles and to more than 500 of his followers at the same time. Some of these believers have died, but most of them are still living. He also appeared to James, to all the apostles, and last of all, he appeared to me, as to one who had an abnormal birth.
