Mark 1:9-13
9It happened then that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan River by John. 10When Jesus came up out of the water, immediately it was seen that the heavens tore open and the spirit like a dove descended upon Jesus. 11a voice came out of the heavens, saying, "You are my child, my beloved. I am well pleased with you."
12The spirit immediately drove Jesus forth into the desert. 13And Jesus was in the desert forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts, and was ministered to by angels.
John 1:1-5
1In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The Word existed from the beginning with God. 3All things were made through the Word, and nothing that was made was made without the Word. 4In the Word was life, and that life was humanity's light. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it.
