Psalm 23
1884 - Praise Songs of Israel
1Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2In green pastures He maketh me to lie down;
By restful waters He leadeth me.
3He restoreth My soul;
He guideth me in the paths of righteousness,
For His Name's sake.
4Yea, when I walk in the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil; for Thou art with me:
Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
5Thou preparest a table before me
In the presence of mine enemies:
Thou hast anointed my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
6Only goodness and lovingkindness follow me
All the days of my life:
And I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah for ever.
1891 - The Psalms A New Translation
1Jehovah is my Shepherd,
I suffer no want;
2In pastures of verdure He makes me lie down,
By the rest-giving waters He leads me.
3He refreshes my soul,
And along the right paths
For His Name's sake He guides me.
4Yea, e'en when I walk in the valley of the shadow of death,
No ill do I fear, for Thou art beside me,
Thy sceptre and staff are my comfort.
5A table Thou spreadest before me,
In front of my foes;
Me head Thou anointest with oil,
And always my cup is overflowing.
6There only shall follow me goodness and love
All the days of my life,
And for days long extended,
I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah.
