Genesis 12:1-5

¹Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee: ²and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: ³and I will them that bless thee, and curse him who curseth thee: and through thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
⁴So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. ⁵And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered , and all the servants whom they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

Psalm 23

¹The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
²He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the gently flowing streams.
³He reviveth my spirit:
He leadeth me in straight paths for his name’s sake.
⁴Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou are with me;
Thy rod, and thy staff, they comfort me.
⁵Thou prepares a table for me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
⁶Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD to length of days.

Isaiah 55:1-3

¹Ho! every one who thirsteth,
Come ye to the waters,
And he who hath no money: Come ye, buy, and eat;
Yea, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price.
²Wherefore do ye spent money for that which is not bread?
And you labour for that which satisfieth not?
Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good,
And let your soul delight itself in fatness.
³Incline your ear, and come unto me:
Hear, and your soul shall live;
And I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
Even the sure mercies of David.

Mark 1:9-13

⁹And Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. ¹⁰And immediately on coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: ¹¹and there came a voice from the heavens, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I delight.
¹²And immediately the spirit led him away into the wilderness. ¹³And he was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and angels ministered unto him.

John 1:1-5

¹In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God: ²The same was in the beginning with God. ³All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. ⁴In him was life; and the life was the light of men: ⁵ and the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

¹Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, and wherein ye stand; ²by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed lightly. ³For I delivered unto you among the first things which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; ⁴and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures: ⁵and that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve: ⁶after that, he was seen by above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present time, but some have fallen asleep. ⁷After that, he was seen by James; then by all the apostles. ⁸And last of all he was seen by me also, as of one born out of due time.
