Mark 1:9-13

⁹At this time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. ¹⁰As he was coming up from the water he saw the heavens torn open and the Spirit coming down upon him, like a dove. ¹¹And a voice from heaven said, "You are my beloved Son; you have I chosen.
¹²Immediately afterwards God's Spirit drove him out into the desert. ¹³There he remained for forty days, being tempted by Satan and living among the wild beasts. And afterwards angels came to serve him.

John 1:1-5

¹In the beginning the Word already was,
The Word was with God;
the Word was himself God.
² From eternity the Word was with God.
³Through him all things came to be;
without him nothing whatever came to be.
⁴All that exists had life in him,
and the life was the light of men.
⁵The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness did not overcome it.
