Genesis 12:1-5
CHAPTER 12 — GOD BEFRIENDS ABRAM
Abram was 75 years old when God spoke to him.
"Leave your kindred behind and head out into a land that I will show you once you are well into your journey. I will build you a great nation and bless your family and their generations. I will also curse everyone that curses you."
God's contact with Abram is a significant event. Abram is the first person God spoke to since he spoke to Abram's 8-Greats Grandfather, Noah.
Additionally, this is the first time since the flood that God showed favoritism. For some inexplicable reason, God decided to bless Abram and his generations above all others.
Per God's instructions, Abram grabbed his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot and headed to Canaan.
