Genesis 12:1-5

First Edition

1Yahweh said to Abram, "Leave your country, your family, and your father's house, for the land I will show you. 2I will make you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse, and in you all the peoples of the earth will be blessed."
4So Abram went as Yahweh had told him, and Lot went with him.
Abream was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. 5Abram took Sarai, his wife, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran. They set out for the land of Canan.
They arrived at Canaan.

Psalm 23

First Edition

1The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside the still waters,
3he restores my soul.
He guides me through the right paths
for his name's sake.
4Although I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are beside me:
your rod and your staff comfort me.
5You spread a table before me
in the presence of my foes.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup is overflowing.
6Goodness and kindness will follow me
all the days of my life,
I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
as long as I live.

Isaiah 55:1-3

First Edition

1Come here, all you who are thirsty, come to the water!
All who have no money, come!
Yes, without money and at no cost, buy and drink wine and milk.
2Why spend money on what is not food and labor for what does not satisfy? Listen to me, and you will eat well; you will enjoy the richest fare.
3Incline your ear and come to me; listen, that your soul may live. I will make with you an everlasting covenant, I will fulfill in you my promises to David.

12Then the Spirit drove him into the desert. 13Jesus stayed in the desert forty days and was tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels ministered to him.

John 1:1-5

First Edition

1In the beginning was the Word.
And the Word was with God
and the Word was God;
2he was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made through him
and without him nothing came to be.
Whatever has come to be, 4found life in him,
life which for humans was also light.
Light that shines in the dark:
light that darkness could not overcome.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

First Edition

1Let me remind you, brothers and sisters, of the Good News that I preached to you and which you received and on which you stand firm. 2By that Gospel you are saved, provided that you hold to it as I preached it. Otherwise, you will have believed in vain.
3In the first place, I have passed on to you what I myself received: that Christ died for our sins, as Scripture says; 4that he was buried; that he was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures; 5that he appeared to Cephas and then to the Twelve. 6Afterwards he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters together; most of them are still alive, although some have already gone to rest. 7Then he appeared to James and after that to all the apostles. ^^8^And last of all, he appeared to the most despicable of them, this is to me.
