Mark 1:9-13
1959 Edition
9At that time Jesus came from the town of Nazareth in the country of Galilee. John baptized him in the Jordan River. 10As soon as he came up out of the water, Jesus saw the sky open. He saw the Spirit come down upon him like a dove. 11A voice from the sky said, "You are my own dear Son. I am very much pleased with you."
12Then right away the Spirit made Jesus go into the wilderness. 13Jesus was in the wilderness for forty days. All that time Satan tried to make Jesus sin. Wild animals were there. Angels came and took care of Jesus.

John 1:1-5
1965 edition
1The Word already was, way back before anything began to be. The Word and God were together. The Word was God. 2Before anything began to be, the Word was there with God. 3God made everything by the Word. Anything that has been made, God made by the Word. 4In the Word was life. That life was light for people. 5The Light shone where it was dark and the darkness did not stop the light from shining.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8
1969 edition
1Now, my brothers, I want to bring the good news to your minds again. I told it to you and you received it. You now believe it. 2You are saved by it, if you hold on to what I told you, unless you did not really believe it.
3I told you first what was told to me. I told you that Christ died for the bad things we did, as God's book said. 4He was buried. He was raised on the third day, as God's book said. 5Peter saw him, and then all the twelve disciples saw him. 6After that, more than five hundred Christian brothers saw him at one time. Most of them are still living, but some have died. 7After that, James saw him. Then all the apostles saw him. 8Last of all, I saw him too. I was like one who was born at the wrong time.
