Genesis 12:1-5

1868 Edition

1And Jehovah said to Abram: Go from thy land, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, to the land that I will show thee. 2And I will make thee a great nation; and I will bless thee, and will make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing. 3And I will bless them that bless thee, and him that curses thee will I curse. And in thee shall all the families of the earth be blest.
4And Abram went, as Jehovah said to him; and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old, when he went forth from Haran.
5And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's sone, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the persons that they had gotten in Haran, and they went forth to go to the land of Canaan; and they came into the land of Canaan.

Psalm 23

1871 Edition

1Jehovah is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3He restores my soul;
He guides me in paths of righteousness, for his name's sake.
4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5Thou preparest a table for me, in the presence of my adversaries;
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runs over.
6Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah forever.

Isaiah 55:1-3

1912 - Complete Bible

1Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters.
And ye who have no money; come ye, buy and eat;
Yea, come, buy wheat without money,
And without price wine and milk.
2Wherefore should ye spend money for that which is not bread ?
And your earnings for that which does not satisfy?
Hearken diligently to me, and eat ye that which is good.
And let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3Incline your ear, and come to me;
Hear, and your soul shall live:
And I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
Even the sure mercies of David.

1And I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also ye received, in which also ye stand; 2through which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word with which I preached to you, unless ye believed in vain.
3For I delivered to you first of all what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; 4and that he was buried, and that he has risen the third day, according to the Scriptures; 5and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve; 6after that, he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep. 7After that, he appeared to James; then to all the apostles. 8And last of all he appeared to me also, as the one born out of due time.

Letter to the Hebrews 1:1–6

1867 - Second Revision

1 GOD, who in many parts and in many ways spoke of old to the fathers by the prophets, 2 in these last days spoke to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, by whom he also made the worlds; 3 who, being the brightness of his glory and the impress of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made a cleansing of sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 having become so much superior to the angels, as he has inherited a more excellent name than they.
5 For to whom of the angels said he ever:
Thou art my Son, I this day have begotten thee;
and again: I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a Son.
6 But when he has again brought in the first–begotten into the world, he says: And let the angels of God worship him.
