Arthur E. Overbury

Arthur Evill Overbury (1875-19??) was a member of the Church of Christ, Scientist until he withdrew his membership in 1915. He self-published a translation of the New Testament in 1925. In the Preface, he says that his version was “based on the premise of ‘Scientific Statement of Being’ as given in Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. In the extended title, Overbury claims he was “unhampered by so-called ecclesiastical authority.” While this version is not an “official translation” of the Christian Science Church, it does embrace much of that church’s doctrines.
