The first independent Catholic translation into English of the New Testament since the Rheims of 1582. Although a strong crusader for Catholic Emancipation in Ireland, Nary was suspected of heterodoxy and was unable to gain widespread acceptance of his work. It was soon superceded by the Witham and Challoner revisions of the Rheims New Testament.

Spurious Title Page This curious title page is inserted in some copies of the Nary New Testament in addition to the regular title page. It incorrectly refers to the work as a "Paraphrase." J. Moore was an obscure Catholic publisher. His only other known work is a tract written anonymously by Edward Hawarden published in 1717.
