| Helen Barrett Montgomery |
(From the jacket) - Mrs. William A. Montgomery (Helen Barrett) was born in Ohio, but from the age of nine resided in Rochester, N.Y. (Died, 1934). Her father was pastor of the famous Lake Avenue Church, with which she and her husband were afterwards prominently identified during the pastorates of Doctors Barbour, Beaven and Yeaple. She graduated from Wellesley College; and at Wellesley's semi-centennial in 1925 was among the few distinguished alumnae to receive an honorary degree — LL.D. She was president of the Northern Baptist Convention in 1921, the only woman ever to hold the office. Among Mrs. Montgomery's other books are: Western Women in Eastern Lands, The Preaching Value of Missions (lectures delivered at Andover Newton Theological School), and The Story of Jesus as Told by His Four Friends.

Comment: Early editions of this translation use the name "Jehovah" at Luke 1:38. Later editions use the title "the Lord". Early editions also contain an errata that lists corrections to Matthew 18:18, Mark 12:30 and John 14:3; it can be seen here.

It appears that the initial 1924 press run was not exhausted for many years. A copy from June 1945 says this was published February 1924, and reprinted in July 1943, June 1944, November 1944, and June 1945. Another copy with the February 1924 publication date has a dust jacket which says Mrs. Montgomery died in 1934.
