American and Foreign Bible Society
The American and Foreign Bible Society was formed by a group left the American Bible Society because they wanted to see the Commonly Received Version (or King James Version) revised to better reflect the original Greek. Particularly, the wanted to see the Greek word βαπτιζο translated as "immerse" rather than transliterated as "baptize." However, instead of issuing a revised translation, the group decided to reprint the 1611 edition following the text of the first edition by Robert Barker. However, they did include a table with the "Meaning of Certain Words Used in this Version" which gives alternative translations for several Greek words.
