John Joynson

In the Preface Joynson says, "A few words will suffice to explain the reason for printing this Edition of the New Testament. The basis of it is, what is called, the Authorised Version; and most of the alterations made are selected from the oldest known copies - The Sinaitic, the Vatican, and the Alexandrine; any others are Translations made with a view of simplifying difficult passages, so that, without departing unnecessarily from the old text, the sense might be conveyed in language plainer and more easy to be understood." The Preface is signed "John Joynson, F.R.A.S., Liverpool."
