Comments: Paperback large octavo, VI & 438 pp. Although the »King James Version« and »Young‘s Literal Translation« have been employed as base texts, the U & T Version is a new translation, writes Dallas James. All archaic language has been replaced with modern English. The version endeavors to be extremely accurate to the Hebrew definitions that comprise the original text. The Dead Sea Scrolls have also been consulted where available. The Bible text is arranged in double columns. Notes and references are not to be found, just the plain text. D. E. James, the „Bibleprophet“, as he calls himself, dated the »Note from the Translator« for this 1st Volume May 5th, 2000.

Title: The Holy Bible ❉ Urim- Thummim Version (UTV) Vol. II (Early Prophets)

Comments: Book data like Vol I; XII and 346 pp. Dallas James explains in his preface that the name Urim & Thummim comes from the object kept in the breastplate of the High Priest worn near his heart. He defends the order of placing the OT books according to the Jewish Canon: Law, Prophets (early/ late) and Writings. Again, like in Vol I, only the pure scripture text is presented with chapter and verse numbering.

Title: The Holy Bible ❉ Urim- Thummim Version UTV Vol. IV (Writings)
Date: 2001

Comments: Book data and general layout see Vol. I and II. - XII and 466 pp. Though this is just an ordinary bible edition coming in not less than five (!) volumes, it could be expected that the poetic pieces of the Writings, e. g. the Psalms, Proverbs and the Song of Songs are printed as the metric blueprint might call in, but also these books are not distinguished printwise from the majority of the other texts.

Comments: This is the first version of the UTV New Testament, the second part thereof. As it has been published by Printers on Demand, the format is smaller octavo (204 pp.). The initial introduction has been adopted also for the later parts of the UTV.
The biblical text is - other than in the later editions - set blockwise in a single column; books are arranged differently than in the usual canon. There are no book titles in the page headings, which calls for a thumb index if one needs to find a specific chapter or verse. Most divine titles are printed in capital letters.
Titles like „the Lord God“ are retranslated into Hebrew words, for instance YHWH Elohim. James sticks to the middle aged Textus receptus rather than one of the more scholarly UBS or Nestle/ Aland NT Graece; so one of the faulty results can be read in Rev. 22:19. The »Urim Thummim« by the way appear in an explanatory amendment to Hebrews 5: 12, where they specify >the first principles of the divine oracle of Elohim<.

Comments: Book data and general layout see Vol. I and II. XII and 494 pp.
The base text after which this NT is translated is Young‘s Literal Translation, which uses a Textus receptus which (also here) has not been corrected according to the Greek. The words of Jesus are printed bold and set in italics. As far as a brief comparison revealed, the translation is identical to the first edition (concerning the content of Part II). James has used the same preface as in the other 4 volumes. The only very short explanations to the text are for example in Matthew 1:1 where “Jesus“ is translated as “YHWH is salvation“.
