John N. Darby

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was one of the leaders of the Plymouth Brethren movement. He translated the Bible into German and French before his English version appeared. The complete New Testament was published in a single volume edition in 1871 (The first edition was issued in undated parts between 1859 and 1867.). The Old Testament was incomplete at Darby’s death in 1882. It was completed based on the French and German versions and was published in 1890.
