Description: Hardcover quarto, thread stitching, VIII & 780 pp. Interlinear Scripture text Aramaic / English on the right, Word–by–Word Translation and KJV text on facing page.
Comment: In the undated and unsigned Preface the Aramaic text is described as »similar to the Peshitta Version in use during the fifth century in the Eastern church as Greek was used in the Western church. At places the Aramaic text represents older and more accurate readings than the Greek, while at other places a Greek version may be more accurate. All the ancient versions must be consulted for truth, for the original God–breathed Word contained no contradictions, no discrepancies, and no inaccuracies.«.
There is no mention who translated the English; Dr. Victor Paul Wierville (1916 - 1985), the founder of ‘The Way International‘ is said to have been able to draw from the vast background of other experts who contributed from their expertise. Also mentioned is George M. Lamsa, who contributed much in Aramaic studies and who finished proofreading his translation of the Peshitta Bible in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Wierville.
Both English translations are presented, but without any additions. The Aramaic text is geared to a numbering system (similar to that of the Strong‘s Concordance) as it appears in the »Concordance to the Pehitta Version of the Aramaic New Testament« (see below), so every (!) Aramaic word has a number added to it.
